What a 20% commission costs you
Many marketplaces keep 20% or more of every sale. Here is what that does to a $60 sale, and what changes when the seller keeps all of it.
One $60 sale
| 20% commission | TootsieTrader | |
|---|---|---|
| Listed price | $60.00 | $60.00 |
| Taken from the seller | $12.00 | $0.00 |
| Seller keeps | $48.00 | $60.00 |
Here the buyer pays a processing fee on top of the $60: 10% of the first $50 plus 3% of the rest, which is $5.30, so the buyer pays $65.30. The seller still gets $60. The fee is shown at checkout before anyone pays.
Over a month
| Sales | 20% commission | No commission | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | $240 | $300 | $60 |
| 10 | $480 | $600 | $120 |
| 20 | $960 | $1,200 | $240 |
| 40 | $1,920 | $2,400 | $480 |
Every row assumes $60 per sale and no other fees. Twenty sales a month is $240 you either keep or hand over.
Check before you switch
- Read the other site's terms for the real percentage. Some add payment or withdrawal fees on top.
- Ask how fast you are paid and whether money sits in a balance first.
- Compare what buyers pay in total. Our buyer fee is capped at $49.99 and shown before checkout.
We do not name other sites here. Run the math with the numbers from their own terms.
